Is technology scrambling my babys brain?

I went to round to post op ward today as usual. I felt surprised that 3 year old baby who was screeching and getting ward people to scratch their heads yesterday , was smiling , and in peace even after major surgery. Reason was I pad he was looking into so intently !.

nMother was near by but she was not looking  into her but ipad!!

My head was thinking has technology in form of smart phones , tablets getting into babys or for that matter chidren s brain.

Kneejerk technophobia

Every new narrative technology has been demonized upon arrival by those convinced its harming their children . in 1835 the American annals of education declared that the perpetual reading of novels inevitably operates to exclude thought and in the youthful mind to stint the opening the mental faculties, by favoring unequal development. No one  have time for reflection, who reads at this rapid rate.

Radio was so addictive , parents warned , that children were skipping meals to tune in, and film transformed viewers into sexually deviant criminals.television was mental wasteland. Video games created violent criminals.

Scientific studies have shown the effect television, computers and video games can have on young childrens developing brains .too much screen time can according to the various studies lead to the delay  verbal skills , poor concentration , emotional instability and  a greater risk of developing attention deficit disorder. In 2011, the venerable American academy of pediatrics officially decreed that exposure to the screens is detrimental to children under the age of two.the millennium cohort study which tracked the long term heath and development of children in the uk born between 2000 and 2002  found by the age of five children who spent more than  three hours a day in front of a screen were more likely  to engage  in antisocial such as fighting and stealing then their peers.the new wave of smartphones and tablets are far more compelling to infants than television.

So are we compelling our children to be smart or addictive?
